The Institute of Advanced Metallic Materials (IAMM) focuses on the national urgent need of the development of national clean energy, the engineering construction of key traditional energy and modern transport equipment and key facilities, researches and develops high-performance key metal materials for nuclear power generation (including high-entropy alloys), wind/water/fire power generation (including nickel-based alloys), hydrogen energy/oil and gas storage and transportation, coal mining, new energy automobile (electrotechnical steel/aluminium alloys), lightweight automobile, high-speed railways, special transportation equipment and construction machinery, and so on, and then provides theoretical support and technological backing for solving the key materials of the national major projects.
The IAMM has undertaken a number of national level projects, such as the “863”, 13th five-year and 14th five-year National Key Research and Development Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Science and Technology Support Plan and National Major Special Projects, and provincial and ministerial level projects, such as Production Application Demonstration Platform of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Program, Beijing Municipal Education Commission Co-construction Project, Shandong Province Key Research and Development Program, Guangxi Innovation Driving Development Special Project, Hebei Provincial Major Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Project, Hebei Provincial Major Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Project, etc. At the same time, we have worked with China At the same time, the IAMM close and long-term co-operation with large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises, such as China Baowu Steel Group, Angang Steel Group Limited, Hebei Iron and Steel Group, TISCO, Shanshan Iron and Steel, Hunan Iron and Steel, Nanjing Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd, Liuzhou Iron and Steel, WISDRI Engineering and Research Incorporation Limited and the State Grid, and has signed a number of horizontal projects of the enterprise factory associations.
Members of the IAMM have published more than 1,000 academic papers in Science, ACTA, Corrosion Science, JMST, MSEA, MC, Acta Metallurgica Sinica, and Iron and Steel, and written 4 monographs. In addition, the IAMM has been authorized more than 200 patents for invention, and won more than 20 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards. Many teachers of the IAMM have been appointed as editorial board members of journals such as Materials Engineering, Journal of Aerospace Materials, Rare Metals, Iron and Steel, Rare Metals, Functional Materials for Metals, and Journal of Engineering Science (Youth).
